The sea holds so many fauna that sometimes we don't even imagine or imagine. Have you ever heard of a fish with a transparent head until the inside of the fish is visible? Read the explanation if you want to know about this fish!

Barreleye fish, also known as spookfish, is a fish that lives in the deep sea. It is unique in the form of a transparent head that shows the eyes, brain, and other internal organs of the head, making scientists interested in finding out about this animal for many years.

It is known that the body of this fish is dark brown, has large fins with a flat shape, and is white like silver. Fins like this make it easier for the Barreleye to sit still and wait for prey for long periods of time. The size of the Barreleye fish is not that big. The average size is only about 15 cm. Even so, this species can grow up to 44 cm.

Barreleye's eyes are so sensitive to light that they are covered by bright green lenses and fluid that protects the inside of the head. With this liquid, Barreleye can distinguish between sunlight and bioluminescent light emitted by other sea creatures.

In 2009, the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI) made observations and revealed that Barreleye Fish can roll their eyes forward to see their prey when hunting. However, even though it has the advantage of being able to see forward and above, this sea animal cannot see to the side.

Barreleye Fish has a small, pointed snout and no teeth, indicating that this fish cannot prey on large marine animals. Its food consists of zooplankton, shrimp, crabs, jellyfish, and small fish. Right above the mouth, there are also two spots, which are the nares, the fish's sense of smell.

At a depth of 2,000 to 2,600 feet or around 600 to 800 meters, the Barreleye is a solitary animal that likes to live alone and just sits around waiting for prey every day. Transparent head fish are found in three large oceans, namely the Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, and Indian Ocean.
